1. What the Marketplace Is
The Marketplace is the member-only area of Pattern Pony where Members can discover, browse, and save Published Patterns and groupings built from them (such as Collections, Course Layouts, and Show Packages). This Policy governs publishing to and using the Marketplace. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service, and capitalized terms have the meanings given there.
The Marketplace is a content-discovery area, not a store. The Marketplace does not currently process sales, royalties, peer-to-peer payments, or any other transfer of money between Members. Publishing a Pattern does not entitle you to compensation, and saving a Pattern does not involve a purchase. If Pattern Pony later introduces paid Marketplace features, creator programs, sponsorships, or fees, they will be offered under separate or updated terms and do not exist unless we affirmatively offer them.
2. Publishing
Publishing is optional. Patterns are private by default; you choose whether to publish a Pattern, Collection, Course Layout, or Show Package to the Marketplace.
All publications are subject to review, moderation, technical requirements, and continuing compliance with the Terms of Service, the Community Guidelines, and this Policy. We may decline to publish any item, and publication at one time does not guarantee continued availability.
When you publish, you represent and warrant that:
- the content is your original work or you have all rights and permissions needed to publish and license it;
- publication does not violate any law, rule, third-party right, or confidentiality obligation; and
- the content does not misrepresent certification, approval, or affiliation with any organization.
Personal tags you use to organize your own library are removed when a Pattern is published; they do not travel with the public listing.
3. What Pattern Pony May Do with Published Content
Under the User Content license in the Terms of Service, Pattern Pony may rank, recommend, feature, promote, bundle, categorize, translate, adapt for display, and otherwise present Published Patterns in the Marketplace and in Platform promotion.
We may also edit presentation-level elements of a listing — including title formatting, tags, categories, thumbnails, previews, accessibility text, and metadata — to maintain Marketplace quality and consistency. We will avoid materially misrepresenting the underlying Pattern.
4. No Guarantees
Pattern Pony does not guarantee, for any Published Pattern or listing:
- publication, approval, visibility, ranking, featuring, traffic, or engagement;
- permanence in the Marketplace;
- accuracy, quality, safety, or suitability for any purpose;
- compliance with the rules of any association, event, facility, insurer, or governing body; or
- endorsement of the content or its creator by Pattern Pony or anyone else.
A verified-creator badge indicates only that an administrator reviewed identity or credential documents submitted by that creator; it is not an endorsement or a guarantee of content quality or safety.
These no-guarantee provisions apply equally to Patterns published by Pattern Pony's own profile. Publication by Pattern Pony is not a certification of safety, suitability, or compliance with any organization's rules, and the equestrian-safety and assumption-of-risk provisions of the Terms of Service apply to all Patterns regardless of who published them.
5. Saving, Forking, and Attribution
When a creator publishes content, they grant other Members a limited license to interact with it through supported Platform features — the full terms of that license between Members are in Section 12 of the Terms of Service. In summary, Members may view Marketplace items, save them to their own libraries, print or export them for personal equestrian use, fork them through Platform features, and republish authorized forks.
Attribution rules:
- The Platform automatically preserves lineage on forked content; listings may display "Published By" and "Forked From" information.
- You may not remove, obscure, or falsify attribution or lineage information.
- A fork may itself be forked, and the lineage chain continues.
- Attribution reflects the creator's Platform display name at the time of display; if a creator changes their display name or closes their Account, attribution may update or display accordingly.
- If content is removed for infringement or other legal or safety reasons, Pattern Pony may remove or modify associated attribution and downstream copies as described in Section 7.
You may not copy, extract, or republish Marketplace content outside the Platform except as permitted by the Terms of Service, the Acceptable Use Policy, or Platform features designed for that purpose (such as printing patterns for your own use at a show). If a creator voluntarily unpublishes an item, copies that Members previously saved or forked may remain in their libraries.
6. Using Patterns Safely
Patterns in the Marketplace are created by Members, and Pattern Pony also publishes Patterns of its own for the community. No Pattern — whoever published it, including Pattern Pony — is a safety determination, a certification, or a substitute for your own judgment. Before using any Pattern, you must independently evaluate it for your situation — including arena size and spacing, footing, equipment, weather, horse behavior, rider skill and experience, the need for supervision, and the current rules of any applicable organization, event, or facility. See the equestrian-safety and assumption-of-risk provisions of the Terms of Service, which apply fully to Marketplace content.
7. Removal and Moderation
We review Marketplace reports individually and may unpublish, hide, reclassify, archive, restrict, or remove any Marketplace item at any time, in our discretion and subject to applicable law — including for quality, duplication, safety concerns, legal risk, reported violations, inactivity, technical reasons, or any other reason. Listings can be reported by Members and are subject to our moderation processes under the Community Guidelines. When we remove content, we generally notify the affected Member and may allow the Member to request review. We handle review requests case by case and may limit notice or review where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, privacy, security, fraud prevention, or safety.
Downstream copies. Where content is removed because of copyright infringement, a court order, a privacy violation, illegal content, or a serious safety issue, Pattern Pony may also remove saved and forked copies from other Members' libraries to the extent necessary and technically feasible. Voluntary unpublishing by the creator does not, by itself, remove copies other Members previously saved or forked.
8. Intellectual Property Complaints
If you believe a Marketplace item infringes your copyright, follow the process in our Copyright & DMCA Policy. For other concerns about a listing, use in-product reporting or contact support@patternpony.com.
